Barcelona!

It's time for Friday Fictioneers and here are my hundred words

I’ve got a friend called Christopher. One night in the pub he said he was named after Christopher Columbus. He stood up, pointed like the statue in Barcelona and poked someone in the eye.

It was karaoke night and he persuaded me to sing Barcelona with him. He was Freddie and I was the opera lady –Monstera Cabelabalaba?.. whatever. Anyway it was dreadful and we got booed off.

Then he started jumping around banging his feet on the floor. I asked what he was doing and he said he was tappas dancing.

I went to Barcelona once. It was nice.

  2. Still laughing about the '..poked someone in the eye' part. He must quite a character.

  3. I love the characterisation of Christopher. Personally not sure the last line adds much - I'd have been happy to be left with the image of the tapas dancing!

  7. This has got to be a real guy you know. Your portrait of him is vivid and alive. And I like the last sentence, btw. Adds a nice touch.

  9. Dear Rosey,

I hope she did more than karaoke in Barcelona. ;) Love Christopher.

    1. We studied the works of Antoni Gaudí which represent a series of outstanding examples of the building typology in the architecture of the early 20th century, residential as well as public, to the development of which he made a significant and creative contribution. And I ate paella.

  12. Haha. A nice fun stream of conscious writing which you are so good at. It made me laugh particularly with the tappas dancing.

    1. Thanks Irene. I find it more fun to write down my first thoughts rather than struggle to be clever.

  13. Tapas dancing.. I think it's more the cava than the food that would do that.

  15. Hi! I popped on over from Keith's blog which I discovered during the A-Z challenge. I love your wonderful short stories! I also work in a school helping a teacher with 8 and 9 years olds here in the U.S. I'm looking forward to reading more or your post!
