A tin thing

I wrote this for Friday Fictioneers where this week's photo prompt comes courtesy of Marie Gail Stratford

My friend Keith drove me home from the pub the other day because I’d had a chardonnay or two and he wouldn't let me drive under the affluence of incohol.

In a field I saw this cylindrical tin thing sticking out of the ground. I asked what it was and he said it was a space ship that had crash-landed point first.

I'm pretty sure he was joking.

Then he said if I tapped it with a couple of spoons it would sound like a silophone.

Then I knew he was joking because it’s actually pronounced zylophone and spelt xylophone.

I’m no fool!

PS. OK, hands up -I must admit it's not completely true. I actually had three glasses of chardonnay, not two. I'll never go to heaven!

Ah the Wrath of Grapes. Silophone? Cute. Love the plays on words here. Sloshingly well told.

  17. Always enjoy your stream of conscious writing. Laughed at your spelling and obvious slurring but how you proved you really weren't that drunk by being able to spell xylophone properly but you still hadn't got the joke. Made me laugh.
