Tap-tap-tap

This is my first visit to Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers. My tale is actually flash faction rather than flash fiction, because it's based on something that really happened. I remembered it when I saw this week's photo prompt.

Tap-tap. What was that? Tap-tap-tap. Odd I thought.

It was coming from the window. I couldn't see who was tap-tapping because the rain was pit-pattering all over the glass. .

Tap-tap-tap-tap. Go away I shouted, I'm busy doing nothing, do not disturb. Tap-tap-tap-tap-tap. Grrr!

'Rosey, it's me' called a sad little voice. I gave in and standing well back to avoid a soaking, I opened the window and discovered Felicity the fairy hovering outside holding a dripping umbrella.

At this point I feel I should remind doubters that fairies really do exist. Honestly. Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it's not there. Like wind and air and things.

Where was I? Oh yes. Felicity flew in dripping drippy bits all over my coffee table, and flopped on the arm of my chair. I told her to stop fluttering because she was splashing me. She sat watching TV with me until the rain stopped, and then off she flew off again.

That's it really. So, er...bye-bye!

  1. Wonderful! I would love for a fairy to come in from the rain and visit with me for awhile. Maybe she could talk my little dog into not to be afraid of the rain and thunder. I was so excited to see that you had found the Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers Challenge! Thank you for your participation!

    1. Me too. The world would be a far duller place without them.
