When I was kid my friends and I came up with a money-making
scheme. We put halfpenny coins on the railway track then hid in the bushes. When
the trains came past they got squashed into pennies so in theory we doubled
our money. They worked perfectly in the penny sweet machine on the wall outside Mr
Taylor’s cafe.
The trouble was, they pinged all over the place and we lost
more than we found! And lots of the ones we recovered were a funny shape.
I’ve always been useless at making money. I guess it started
back then.

That was a funny one!
ReplyDeleteYea, it was fun doing it too!
DeleteCute! Fun story.
ReplyDelete:) Enterprising!
ReplyDeleteSeemed like a good idea at the time!
DeleteLike what you've done with the prompt, though pennies on the track is a dangerous game. I love the natural story telling here, well done. Dee
ReplyDeleteThat's why stayed in the bushes! We didn't worry about Elf and Safety then!
DeleteLOL. Sounds like something I would try to do.
ReplyDeleteI dare you!
Deletethis one made me smile. good one. :)
DeleteDear Rosey,
ReplyDeleteI wonder just how many kids did this. Cute story.
Shalom,
Rochelle
A lot of my friends did. Some of them are accountants and bankers now!
Deletevery nice.
ReplyDeleteBut i won't say "a penny for you thoughts" as you'd probably put it on the railroad track and who knows if you'd double your money or just ping out..
Randy
Just pop a cheque in the post!
Deletei like the way your story ended, great
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks!
DeleteCute story but I don't know anything about "hay pennies" (is that right?) living on this side of the Atlantic. In fact I thought Penny Lane was a girl's name until I went to London some years ago! Thanks, Rosey.
