Wherefore art thou Rodney?

Here is my 100 word fib for this week's Friday Fictioneers!

I used to know this guy called Rodney. One day he stood on his balcony and proposed to me! He thought it was romantic. Duh! Corny more like.

He asked me to return with my answer the next day. I didn’t have the heart to refuse. At least I’d be several feet below when he got the bad news!

I went back, but during the night the balcony had collapsed. I thought he might walk out clutching a bunch of wilting carnations, crash down and shower me with petals.

Fortunately he didn’t. I wandered off and never saw him again.

    1. Glad it amused you! Actually anonymous, you show as Iishwriter which has really confused me! Nothing unusual there though!

  4. Funny piece! Wherefore art thou, Rodney? In the annals of hard luck literature, and he also has to pay for a whole new balcony!

  7. Fun story! I like the casual voice you used to tell it. I can imagine her standing out there and waiting a few minutes just to see if Rodney would come crashing down.

  8. i guess this is what happened. when the balcony collapsed, he saw it as a bad omen. so, it didn't bother showing up anymore. :)

  9. Yeah, I wasa thinking of the bad omen, too. Can't be said any clearer that his proposal was hapless. Fun story, I liked it a lot.

  10. That's so funny how she just wanders off and never sees him again and she doesn't care at all.

  15. Poor Rodney. I don't know whether it was a good thing for her or not. They may have been very happy together.

  16. That's kind of an odd, but creative, proposal. Good thing he wasn't on the balcony when it collapsed. Well done, Rosey. :) --- Suzanne
