What's for supper?

This is my story for Friday Fictioneers. I actually used 102 words - sorry! I'll stand in the naughty corner for a couple of minutes!

This picture reminds me of something I ate once.

I didn’t eat a statue! Mind you, I did eat a chocolate Father Christmas once. I didn’t eat a dinosaur either – they are an endangered species.

No, I ate an eel. That’s what it looked like after I’d finished – all head and bones!

When I took it from the fishmonger’s bag it suddenly leapt into the air and landed splat on the floor. I watched from a distance thinking it was still alive. It wasn’t - I’d just forgotten what slippery devils they are!

Cooking it was a challenge, but it tasted bloomin' d-eel-icious!

  1. Ha! This is quite clever. Great play on words. (thinking was still alive - this sentence begs for an "it")

  2. But eels are endangered species too.... alas. They are indeed d-eel-icious. I think dinosaurs taste like chicken though.

  11. Aren't snakes supposed to taste like chicken? I guess that's what dinosaurs must have tasted like, too. And chicken are dinosaurs anyway, isn't that fun? I don't eat eel... but your story makes them sound good. Fun story, as always.
