As long as I could remember there was a little wooden boat buried in the undergrowth near my parent’s pond. To cut a long story to 104 words, one summer’s day I thought I’d resurrect it and go for a paddle.
I suppose I should have worn flatties because mid-stream I somehow put a heel through the bottom of the hulk whatever it’s called. In seconds, I was sinking; I had to abandon ship. Help!
It was a like scene from a disaster movie with me, the femme fatale standing almost knee deep in the angry swirling fish-infested water.
I still have nightmares about it.
