The twitten

This week's word at  Sunday Scribblings 2  is Passage.

I've also included the 3 Word Wednesday words, UnsightlyRagged and Threatening.

There is a passage at the side of my apartment block.

(We call them twittens down South, and ‘oop North’ they call them ginnels)

Where was I? Oh yes, the passageway.  It’s lined on one side by unsightly back gardens of the dilapidated terrace houses in Smelly Street.

(Actually it’s Shellie Street, but everybody except the residents calls it by its nickname – if you lived around here you’d know why!)

I digress!  I use the ‘twitten’ as a short cut to the corner shop.

(I asked them once if they sold corners! Well, I thought it was funny)

The other evening I went along there because I need a bottle of Chardonnay – for medicinal purposes you understand! Suddenly a scruffy ragged cat ‘thing’ leapt down from a fence and stood in my way. Scared the living daylights out of me! It looked really threatening. You should have seen it.  It had one ear, a crooked tail and a the longest feline fangs I’ve ever seen. It hissed at me. Honestly. It hissed....and....it spat!

(Should that be spitted? Not sure)

I changed my mind about the wine and trotted back to the safety of my apartment. Funny thing though, when I opened my front door my pussy cats Fuzzy and Scruff both hissed at me. Odd. They didn’t spit of course, they are far too well brought up.

That’s it really. Bye.

  2. Great story with a seamless use of the words Rosey. Fuzzy and Scruff no doubt hissed as they hoped you would stay out longer as they wanted the climb the curtains when you were gone.

    1. Whoops - I read that as a 'useless seam of words' and was thinking of giving you a punch on your hooter!

  3. You are steaming ahead on Sunday Rosey - we can barely keep up - but of course Chardonnay is always medicinal...Sometimes when I pass the Polish Shop I think about going in and asking for a can of Mr Sheen...makes me smile too...but not brave enough to ask like you! I may have mentioned Lethargy Road...aka Lethaby Road..and Bear Street..also knows as Despair Street where the cats will eat you if the people don't...but that's not cheery now is it..have a fine bonfire night in Lewes..

    1. I know that dragons eat you, but cats...ooo-errr! I'm wondering if I should stop letting mine lick my ears in future. Did I tell you they do that? Can't have them nibbling my lobes or I'll have nowhere to dangle my earrings!
