I very rarely write poems. If you know me you’ll know that I’m
not one to be bound by the rules and regulations that poetry impose.
But someone told me about Poetry Jam and having looked at this
week’s beverage based theme I thought I’d have a go!
So move over William Wordsworth,
Rosey ‘the poet’ Pinkerton has arrived!
Coffee strong and coffee weak,
Coffee plain and coffee tweaked.
Espresso’s black and latte’s white,
Cappuccino’s very sweet.
Tea is not the same at all,
Its taste is far more silky
Earl Grey’s scented, Oolong's Asian
Herbal’s horrid, best drunk milky.
When I get home and need a drink,
When it has been a
stressful day.
Only one thing hits the spot,
A glass of chardonnay!
I am totally with you. Even if coffee is great, at the end of a hard day nothing beats a glass of Chardonnay (or Sauvignon Blanc). Welcome to Poetry Jam!
ReplyDeleteYour poem made me smile. Both coffee and tea are good in their place...but there is nothing like a glass of white wine at the end of the day.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you here at Poetry Jam. Our prompts go up Monday night (9 pm CT - USA), and are up all week. I really hope to see you again!
Mary made a mistake. It is Tuesday night 9 pm CT USA or Wednesday 2 am your time in the UK.
DeleteThanks for the info. I'll try to put my seriously head on next week and leave my tongue in my cheek where it belongs!
DeleteI think your poetry debut is a success.
ReplyDeletelove the lines full of drinks...Welcome to Poetry Jam!...
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile, carefree and living a dream !! Living the breeze of life.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who likes Chardonnay is my type of poet.... but then, so are those who drink Shiraz, Merlot, beer, scotch...... Whatever, we are on good company.
ReplyDeleteI'm a teetotaler, and though not a tea-totaler, I do love a good cup of tea. Coffee is my morning cup though. Nice poem today!
